Cannabis & Pride

So much has been written and shared regarding the rightful visibility of the LGBTQ+ community, so here at Marijuana Games we wanted to state irrevocably that we stand shoulder to shoulder.

As we celebrate Pride Month, we reflect on and show our gratitude to the essential role that our friends and family within the LGBTQ+ community have played by opening up debate, by visualization, by fighting for the right for inclusiveness.  It’s similar to the road we’re travelling, paving the way, kilometre by kilometre to legalize cannabis, both medical and recreational.

For far too many years, the cannabis and LGBTQ+ community have been well-acquainted with marginalization. Even today in 2022, so  many countries outlaw the freedom to express gender and sexual preferences.  Even where progress has been made, many people hold shockingly parochial views towards the LGBTQ+ community and cannabis users. Both groups can carry a heavy stigma and exist on the fringes of what many misguided people consider the social norm.

To a young person in  the developed world it might seem impossible to believe that not so long ago reassigning one’s gender, or even simply holding hands with one’s partner/s outside the socially accepted heterosexual norms were penal offences. The same way that we are amazed that puffing on a joint is illegal in too many countries and can give you a free pass to a criminal record!

This month should be a month to ponder all the progress that has been made, especially now in Europe Auf wiedesehen Angela! Willkommen Olaf!

And, it should be a month to celebrate freedom, the right to be who you want to be and to do what you want to do

Peace! Tolerance for all!

Madrid Pride

In 2022, the festivities will take place from 1 to 10 July, with the Madrid Pride Parade to be held on 9 July (one week later than usual).

Barcelona Pride

13 – 26 June 2022. It’s the largest Pride event in the Mediterranean.

If you are in Spain for Pride and you also wish to use cannabis recreationally, please know that cannabis is an illegal substance. However, legitimate private cannabis social clubs can protect consumption within the privacy of its confines due to the extremely stringent privacy laws.  Marijuana Games does not sell, or promote the use of, cannabis.
