7 things to do while you’re stoned in Madrid

Summer is near, and traveling is one of our fave things to do at this time of the year! If you’re planning to go to Madrid you must know that cannabis (marijuana) is not legal, yet, but you are protected by strict privacy laws if you consume cannabis in a private space, such as a private cannabis social club in Spain (as we have mentioned before!).

So if you decide to go Madrid, Spain’s capital, here are the top 7 things you can do while you’re a bit high!

  1. Visit a Cannabis Social Club…. of course this was going to be first on our list! If you need help please feel free to contact us. Remember that most clubs will ask you to be over 21, a habitual user & have a sponsor. Many are oases of calm and can get you a couple of hours out of the heat of the Madrid summer.
  2. Listen to music stoned… If you’re lucky enough to have rented a cool airbnb or similar, get in a comfy chair put on some quality headphones and pick out an album that means something to you. If your rental is more practical than comfy, then we suggest you get out into the city. Madrid is one of the live music centers of the world  with a range of excellent clubs and venues, and some choice summer festivals too. Check out the programs for Veranos de la Villa, A Summer Story, Noches de Botánico or Puro Reggaeton.  Long-established venues like Café Berlin or Café Central and Sala Clamores are another great choice.  Most people would agree that there is something better about listening to music when you are stoned – that part of our brain that draws relations between ideas becomes stimulated when we’re high, and music is packed with metaphors and patterns.
  3. Having a conversation while you’re high… at most cannabis social clubs you’ll meet great, like-minded people and fall into a meaningful conversation – cannabis can bring out deep thoughts during the dog days of summer……..   What’s your recurring daydream on a balmy night? If you’re standing on the Eiffel Tower in summer, can you you really be aware of the extra 6 inches it gains in the heat? Scientifically, we’re happier in summer. Why?
  4. Read a book.… Madrid’s famous book fair, held in May in the Retiro park makes an ideal plan to sit under a shady tree with a book, post smoke. But you may prefer to head over to one of Madrid’s cannabis social clubs and read in a quiet corner… our four favorite books for reading stoned are:
      1. Alice in Wonderland Louis Carrol
      2. Wonder Boys Michael Chabon
      3. Drop City T.C Boyle
      4. The Pilgrimage Paul Coelho (try reading it in Spanish – El peregrino de Compostela)
  5. Visit an art gallery… Madrid has world-class museums, from the Prado, to the Reina Sofia, along with LaCaixa Foundation, Museo Thyssen Bornemisza, or the Museum of The Canal de Isabel II… Just begin musing on shapes, colors, forms……….
  6. Play a game of chess… most Cannabis Social Clubs in Madrid, and in Barcelona, have a collection of board games with which you can while away some time in the coolness inside, but you can join in one of the many outside chess games which are played in the parks in the summer. Pablo Sorozábal gardens have regular outdoor chess games and are very near one of our favorite clubs.
  7. I forgot… got it on the tip of my tongue, but i just can’t remember… that’s one of the fun things of being high in a great city like Madrid!
