Spannabis 2015 in Barcelona Spain

The Spannabis Hemp Fair in Barcelona (referred to locally as Spannabis Feria del Canamo) will be held on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of March, 2015. Spannabis – Europe’s largest cannabis event – will be located as usual at the Fira de Cornella event center in Barcelona, Spain. The event is primarily an industry trade show similar to the High Times Cannabis Cup, with Spannabis featuring its own awards show and entertainment.

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR SPANNABIS 2015

Spannabis 2015 is being held at the Fira de Cornella event Center at Carrer de Tirso de Molina 34. This is in the Cornella de Llobregat neighborhood of Barcelona, which is actually quite far from Barcelona’s city center. Plan accordingly for your transportation needs.

I recommend taking the train; lines R5 or R2 will work for most people, with trains leaving every 30 minutes starting at 05:00 and continuing until 22:00. Metro line L1, which leaves every 12 minutes, will get you most of the way there from Placa Catalunya.

Spannabis is open only to adults 18 years of age or older.

The following are the specific dates and times for Spannabis 2015:

• Friday March 20, 2015: 11:00 to 20:30
• Saturday March 21, 2015: 11:00 to 20:30
• Sunday March 22, 2015: 11:00 to 20:00

HISTORY OF SPANNABIS

Spannabis is a cannabis industry trade show that first came to Barcelona in 2002. Within ten years of the first Spannabis, attendance grew to more than 25,000 people. Considering the accelerating state of legalization movements today, Spannabis is expected to grow rapidly over the coming decade. In fact, the event is now also being organized in Malaga, Spain: Spannabis in Malaga

WHAT TO EXPECT AT SPANNABIS IN BARCELONA

Vendors

For 2015 the event will consist of more than 13,000m² of cannabis related vendors operating from standardized booths. In simple terms, Spannabis is where businesses and people who work in the industry come to network, sell products and develop brands. Organizers expect this year’s event to be the biggest ever, with more than 200 vendors in attendance and general tickets sales expected to approach 20,000 or more.

Education

Spannabis is also a venue for public education about what’s happening in the marijuana and hemp industries. Speakers organize talks on marijuana in politics, cultivation and farming topics, edibles and concentrates and of course medical marijuana.

Other meetings, discussions, panels and presentations focus on marijuana in cancer treatment, risk reduction, organic cultivation, industrial uses of hemp and cannabis seed oil, hydroponics, cooking with cannabis and many other topics.

Awards

Spannabis is also an awards show. Like at the High Times Cannabis Cup, a panel of Spannabis judges will scrutinize various aspects of the trade show and award top contenders, such as the best seed bank, best growing tool or product, and the best booth/stand, among other awards.

IT’S NOT EXACTLY A PARTY

Contrary to popular belief, Spannabis is not a weed party. In fact, it is forbidden to smoke during the event. Vaping however, is another matter… Interestingly, you can legally acquire marijuana in Barcelona if you join a private cannabis club. For more information, please email me; russ@marijuanagames.org

Despite the ban on smoking, there is plenty to do, and plenty to see. From new cannabis products to modern twists on old ones, to wild new marijuana strains, to wacky smoking gadgets, grow lights, plant nutrients and much more, there is a wealth of cannabis related information, products and services to take in at Spannabis 2015.

Some vendors will give away free edibles or other products or offer vape hits free of charge, while other vendors will offer contests where the prizes can range from a small packet of seeds to a new cultivation setup. It’s best to arrive early each day in order to take advantage of these special offers.
